Scholarships

Scholarships are funds offered by various colleges, departments, organizations, or companies to students who meet specific criteria. For example, a physics major may intend to go into research, or an athlete may plan to become a coach. Scholarships may be awarded on merit, need, or a combination of factors and do not require repayment.

Cal State East Bay Scholarships

Cal State East Bay honors outstanding students each year by administering various scholarship awards. Scholarships range from $500 to $3,500, with the average award being $1,000. New and continuing students are encouraged to apply annually, as students may receive more than one scholarship. Although scholarships are awarded to honor outstanding academic achievement, many take financial need into consideration. For scholarships where need is a selection criteria, students must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for consideration. Due to the large number of applications received, not all qualified students may receive scholarships.

California Pre-Doctoral Program

The California Pre-Doctoral Program is open to CSU juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Recipients are selected by their potential for success in completing a doctoral program, the probable effectiveness of the student/faculty plan, and the recipient's level of economic or educational disadvantage.

Annual CSU Student Research Competition

This competition provides students with the opportunity to showcase a recently completed research project, make professional contacts, add to their resume, and represent Cal State East Bay.

Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive/Forgiveable Loan Program

Students may borrow up to $10,000 per year (up to $30,000 within a five-year period) in the Chancellor's Doctoral Incentive program. Students who complete their doctoral studies and teach in the CSU system as full-time faculty may have a loan forgiven at 20% per year of teaching.

Alan Pattee Scholarships

This scholarship was designed for children of deceased public law enforcement or fire suppression employees who were California residents, and who were killed in the course of law enforcement or fire suppression duties. Fee Waivers for Students Age 60 and Over

If you are a California resident 60 years of age or over, and you have applied for regular admission and established your eligibility prior to the start of classes, you may have your application fee and State University fee waived. http://www.csuhayward.edu/ecat/20042005/i-100fees.html

California State University East Bay, Concord Campus Scholarships

These scholarships are only available to eligible Cal State East Bay, Concord campus students. These include the Executive Director's Scholarship, First Five Contra Costa Scholarship for Human Development majors and First Five Contra Costa Scholarship for Teacher Education students. http://www.concord.csueastbay.edu/finaid.htm

Excellence in Aphasia Scholarship

Statistics and Biostatistics Departmental Scholarships
